Queen’s song ‘Another One Bites The Dust’ appeared on the band’s album called ‘The Game’ in 1980. It was written by John Deacon, the bass guitarist of the band. The song quickly reached great heights in popularity in the international scene charting number one in the United States, and number seven in the United Kingdom. Another One Bites The Dust was considered the band’s best selling single; It sold roughly 7 million copies.
Originally the idea to release Queen’s song as a single came from Michael Jackson, who after appearing at one of Queen’s concerts, was so impressed with it, he suggested to Freddy Mercury that it be released as a single. In later years, there were some controversies that the song contained hidden messages, but these rumours were promptly denied by the label. Although the song was nominated for a Grammy and lost it is without a doubt one of the most popular and recognizable rock ballads of the past half century. So good in fact, that it was ranked at #34 on Billboard’s All Time Top 100.
